Halloween was SO MUCH FUN this year! The celebration starts the Friday before with a day of OUT and About. On Friday I wore a HUGE dress to a huge party. Saturday I wore a French Maid costume! So Much Fun!
Some of us met for dinner Tuesday December 31st. I wore the French Maid’s costume again. We walked the mall. People were yelling “You go girl!”. Asking to take our pictures. And asking to be in our pictures with us.
As an official French maid I was tasked with the laundry.
But someone said I was too enthusiastic!??! And the mannequins were complaining they were cold.
For Tuesday evening, the actual Halloween 31st, I created a dog called “Fake News” with orange hair, red beady eyes, BIG sharp teeth, and tiny hands. He is black, I carried him in a basket, and I wore a Dorothy costume. Like in the Wizzard of Oz.
First stop was Billy’s Lounge. A DJ. OK music. Mostly for people who want a beat and not much more. They stand in circles and move their knees forward and backward as a pair, feet planted, and maybe move their arms a bit. While looking at their phones.
They were supposed to have a costume contest at midnight. There weren’t many costumes and most were not that good. At 11:30 the DJ announced that the contest would be in an hour so we left and went to The Apartment Lounge. This is a really nice classy and historic gay bar in Grand Rapids. When I walked in a beautiful drag queen came up to me and asked me f I was going to be in the costume contest? Gee, I didn’t even know they were having one?!? But she was SO nice and welcomng and anyway SURE! She said I would be the last contestant. So I positioned myself to watch as each contestant marched from one end of the room to the other where the judges were. I could, as the last one, figure out the best way to approach this. When it was my turn I sashayed through the crowd, wiggled my fanny a few times, showed everyone my dog, and got Third Place!
So now it is midnight and I still want to get some good pictures of “fake News”. So in to Meijer I go and wallah!
