MUCH MORE DRAB TO FABulous FUN!

2016 06 23

Imagine going OUT enfemme right in the GP (general population) and no one notices.  Imagine doing this for a long weekend, each day, all day, at stores, restaurants, clubs.  Then going to a bachelorette party and a dance in ball gowns where the GP can’t possibly miss the subterfuge but actually has fun with it too.  That pretty much sums up DAB to FABulous.  And FUN!  And more FUN!

The highlight of Saturday is the “Formal Dance” that evening.  The day starts out as usual with lunch in a regular restaurant amidst the GP customers.  Then off to have FUN doing what the gals want to do.  This day it was a unanimous decision to go to what has to be the best wig store anywhere.  The owner is absolutely fabulous to us, gives great advice about color, style, and general femeninizing.  And the prices are as good as on line.

Some picture taking always seems to be FUN! DSCN7859 (2) DSCN7863 (2)

Grand Rapids succumbed to the downtown mall thing to try and save the downtown, what little was left, many years ago.  But it was impossible to compete with the free parking at THE MALL.  Perhaps now that people are returning to live in the city core, maybe stores will be able to survive downtown.  Anyway Grand Rapids has a seemingly out of place diagonal street right downtown.  It is only three blocks long, but it has some interesting shops and restaurants, plus a specialty grocery store.  And some great benches and flowers for photo ops.  Am I invisible? People pass by and no one notices us.

After an early dinner we changed in to dressier clothes, and for those who choose, gowns.  Now the week before I tried on everything that I was going to wear at DRAB to FABulous.  That is thirteen complete outfits, a car full!  My ball gown fit perfectly, worn exactly as a GG would wear it.  The dress and maybe nothing else but the petticoat, shoes, and bling.  Neither Amy or Janet had a room at the hotel and needed to change.  I volunteered my room.  So the three of us are changing from dinner outfits to glam clubbing.  So I am too modest to strip down to my birthday suit and put my gown on.  So I take off my dinner dress and slip and try to put the gown on by pulling it up.  But I can’t get it over my (padded) derrière.  So I try putting the dress on over my head.  But the inner liner of the dress keeps getting tangled up and I can’t surface from inside the dress.  So I lose the padded panties and repeat.  Still can’t get it up and zipped.  Still can’t get it down and zipped.  So I lose the corset and repeat.  Can’t pull it up, can’t climb in from the bottom.  Now I am getting too warm.  BUT I AM GONNA GET IN THIS DRESS!!!!!!!  I set up a modesty screen by going all the way to the far side of the room and hanging a towel over the desk office style chair and losing not only the body shaper but the forms.  NOW I can get the dress up.  But it is a side zip, I am a bit damp from the effort, and I can’t get it zipped.  Fortunately Amy and Janet needed a room to change so I had two ladies in waiting.  I held the bottom of the zipper, Amy zipped, and Janet held the dress closed above the zipper.  And it FIT with .0013″ to spare.  As long as I didn’t inhale too deep.  Zipped in I added the forms and VIOLA!  Glam!  Then I hiked up the dress and stepped in to the crinoline.  And my silver glitter strappy platform pumps!  OMG!  I felt BEAUTIFUL!!!!

If you have never worn a ball gown let me tell you it is a BLAST!  The dress DEMANDS attention.  It has a PRESENCE!  It MOVES differently from you.  And if you ever have to go we we while wearing one, bundle it up, Work the door with one hand, hold the dress with the other, feel for the seat with another, rebundle the dress back up because it wants to fall in the can, and get a piece of paper, after BACKING in to the stall, and you can’t see anything below your boob and the bundled dress thereabouts.  What a challenge!  SO MUCH FUN!!!!! Some HOTTIES! DSCN7931 (2)

It isn’t unusual for some people to want to sit with us.  They dance with us all the time.  This night a couple asked to spend the whole time with us at our table.  They had a long and diverse conversation with Amy and Janet.  DSCN7932 (2)

EVEN MORE DRAB TO FABulous FUN!

2016 06 14

DAB to FABulous is for crossdressers and their friends.  For that portion of the CDing community who are comfortable OUT in the general population and have the technique to go largely unnoticed.  It is not about beauty.  It is all about presentation.  Stripper wear, fantasy wear, sky high platform stilettos, anything that draws attention just isn’t what this is about.  For that “in your face” presentation there are plenty of other events around the country.  It isn’t about seminars, vendors, speeches, or gatherings exclusively made up of CDers.  The focus of DRAB to FAB is to simulate what it would be like as real gals doing a girls FUN weekend away.  We spend each day OUT enfemme like any woman does, out in the world, doing the things that women do every day.  OUT in the real world with many of the sensations, adventure, fun, and risks that real women encounter.  DRAB to FABulous works because we are OUT and no one really notices us.

The highlight of Day 3, Friday, is the luncheon in the historic women’s club and the bachelorette party that evening.  The luncheon is at a historic woman’s club that dates from the early 1900 before suffrage.  The place just screams elegant femininity.  But alas, it’s place in today’s world is less certain than it was back when the ladies’ primary networking opportunity came within these walls.  But while we are so fortunate to be allowed inside these hallowed halls, we will be respectful, and treat ourselves to the always good food and superb service, at reasonable prices.

There are a number of sitting rooms where the ladies can have an afternoon of bridge.  Most have fireplaces.  This one is the epitome of feminine elegance with the yellow walls and white trim.DSCN5769 (2)

Then off to a huge restaurant and club venue.  DSCN7839 (2)The GGs were sweet and danced with us.  One of the piano players gave me a hug and told me he was glad to see us.  People applauded when I danced on the stage.  We had FUN!  And maybe helped some of the GP to have some fun too!  And maybe they learned that we are not threatening or sent by the devil.  DSCN7853 (2)  Saturday is the Ball Gown clubbing!

MORE DRAB TO FABulous FUN!

MORE DRAB TO FABulous FUN!
2016 06 07

DAB to FABulous is for crossdressers and their friends.  The focus is what it would be like as real gals doing a girls FUN weekend away.  We spend each day OUT enfemme like any woman does, out in the world, doing the things that women do every day.  Not just in a gay bar.  Not just in a hotel conference room.  OUT in the real world with many of the sensations, adventure, fun, and risks that real women encounter.  DRAB to FABulous works because we are OUT and no one really notices us.

Wednesday is usually very quiet, Friday and Saturday are the main days.  I enjoy Wednesday because I get to be OUT and just enjoying the clothes and shoes and jewelry and earrings and stockings and …and…and…..  Thursdays at DRAB to FABulous usually brings in a few more people.  But Thursday is fun because it is still just a few gals and we can do more individual things.

We went to lunch at Noodles dscn7706rand then went to Meijer Gardens for some photo opportunities. It was kind of cool out that day, so the sun felt good on my stockinged legs.  That is a sensation I never get in pants.dscn7732r

dscn7720rdscn7730rI found this dress at a GWs.  dscn7725rIt was a size 12 and I just LOVED the polkadots and the pink bands.  Plus I already had the perfect bolero jacket for it.  The problem was it was a size 12.  A 14 I can fit in but only rarely a size 12.  What to do?  The dress had a narrow blue band running down the sides.  So I found some material like the blue and after removing the blue stripe, added the wider one to make the dress fit.  These are my favorite Mary Janes.  I just love the two narrow straps and the rounded toe.  The shoe is rounded on the bottom at the front so when I walk the foot just rolls forward.  Comphy for a fashionable day on my feet.

And on to shopping at Dress Barn with Nikki and Amy.  dscn7746r dscn7748r

At the same “Mall” I have rarely found anything at DSW that I would consider a good price or so unique that I was willing to pay their price.  But one can always hope.  dscn7757r

Heels! Heels! In my dreams my shoe closet looks like this!

dscn7759rdscn7751r

I just love these pictures with the reflection in the mirror!

We usually change for dinner.  It is just an excuse to wear another outfit.  Then a bit of a quick walk through a mall.  Mostly because of the marble floors.  I LOVE the sound of my heels clicking on the floor and to see my reflection in the mirrors and windows!  dscn7765rThe spring coat and dress both came from GWs.  The shoes were gray when I bought them on sale, I colored them blue and did a purse and hat too. dscn7771r

Marci joined us for dinner.  dscn7772r

Feeling so fem!  dscn7775r

For clubbing we usually wear something a bit more sparkly, colorful, or whispy.  I got to wear SEQUINS!  I LOVE sequins!  dscn7790r

Friday will be highlighted by the Bachlorette Party!
Saturday is the Ball Gown clubbing!
This is SUCH FUN!

GETTING OUT AMID THE GPs

6/1/2015

OMG I have been BUSY!!!!
I have been working ten, twelve hours a day since DRAB to FABulous and it doesn’t look like it is going to let up!  But I have been taking time out for fun.  Time to get something out there about how DRAB to FABulous 2016 went.

But some background first:
DRAB to FABulous was created to have an event specifically for crossdressers and their friends.  The focus is to simulate what it would be like as real gals doing a girls weekend away.  During DRAB to FAB we spend each day OUT enfemme.  Lunch, shopping, sightseeing, mini spa days, a stroll, dinner, clubbing.  All in the company of experienced gals.  All at venues prescreened by the local gals.  All at places frequented by the general public.  We experience life JUST LIKE any woman does, out in the world, doing the things that women do every day.  Not just in a gay bar.  Not just in a hotel conference room.  OUT in the real world with many of the sensations, adventure, fun, and risks that real women encounter.  So it isn’t and can’t be a cast of thousands.  It won’t work with a hundred, fifty, maybe even won’t work with thirty.  Because we are OUT in the GP we can’t take a big bunch of gals in to a dress store and take it over.  Same for a small cozy local restaurant.  We wouldn’t be blending in and experiencing it like real gals would.  DRAB to FABulous works because we are OUT and no one really notices us.

DRAB to FABulous 2016
For me Wednesday starts out very relaxed.  Friday and Saturday are anything but relaxed.  Wednesday is almost just for me.  I take a car load of outfits, shoes, accessories, everything it takes to put Billie together.  This means thirteen or more outfit changes.  Nine copy paper sized boxes of shoes, wigs, foundation garments, forms, stockings, supplies.  And a portable makeup kit, nails.  And the stuff necessary to undo Billie so I can rest for the next day.  Truly a car full!

The first outfit I wore was a yellow dress and multi colored blazer, both from GWs.  DSCN7641 (2)And since it was cool out a spring coat, also from GWs.

Yellow shoes that I changed color from gray, a multi color purse, hat with a yellow band, and a turquoise necklace to match the blazer.

DSCN7650 (2)            I felt GOOD!

Amy Pond was OUT with me that day.  We did her wish list including picking up the most delightful pair of Mary Janes.

We changed for clubbing.  I wore a yellow lace dress I found at Ross Dress For Less.  It was $16 and a size way too big.  I had to take it in.  But it is perfect with the lace sleeves.DSCN7701 (2)

We ended up at The Apartment, on a Wednesday nice and quiet.

DRAB to FABulous 2016 started out like always, with a whisper.  It ended up with a BANG!

More to come……….
