Imagine going OUT enfemme right in the GP (general population) and no one notices. Imagine doing this for a long weekend, each day, all day, at stores, restaurants, clubs. Then going to a bachelorette party and a dance in ball gowns where the GP can’t possibly miss the subterfuge but actually has fun with it too. That pretty much sums up DAB to FABulous. And FUN! And more FUN!
The highlight of Saturday is the “Formal Dance” that evening. The day starts out as usual with lunch in a regular restaurant amidst the GP customers. Then off to have FUN doing what the gals want to do. This day it was a unanimous decision to go to what has to be the best wig store anywhere. The owner is absolutely fabulous to us, gives great advice about color, style, and general femeninizing. And the prices are as good as on line.
Grand Rapids succumbed to the downtown mall thing to try and save the downtown, what little was left, many years ago. But it was impossible to compete with the free parking at THE MALL. Perhaps now that people are returning to live in the city core, maybe stores will be able to survive downtown. Anyway Grand Rapids has a seemingly out of place diagonal street right downtown. It is only three blocks long, but it has some interesting shops and restaurants, plus a specialty grocery store. And some great benches and flowers for photo ops. Am I invisible? People pass by and no one notices us.
Janet looks GREAT!
After an early dinner we changed in to dressier clothes, and for those who choose, gowns. Now the week before I tried on everything that I was going to wear at DRAB to FABulous. That is thirteen complete outfits, a car full! My ball gown fit perfectly, worn exactly as a GG would wear it. The dress and maybe nothing else but the petticoat, shoes, and bling. Neither Amy or Janet had a room at the hotel and needed to change. I volunteered my room. So the three of us are changing from dinner outfits to glam clubbing. So I am too modest to strip down to my birthday suit and put my gown on. So I take off my dinner dress and slip and try to put the gown on by pulling it up. But I can’t get it over my (padded) derrière. So I try putting the dress on over my head. But the inner liner of the dress keeps getting tangled up and I can’t surface from inside the dress. So I lose the padded panties and repeat. Still can’t get it up and zipped. Still can’t get it down and zipped. So I lose the corset and repeat. Can’t pull it up, can’t climb in from the bottom. Now I am getting too warm. BUT I AM GONNA GET IN THIS DRESS!!!!!!! I set up a modesty screen by going all the way to the far side of the room and hanging a towel over the desk office style chair and losing not only the body shaper but the forms. NOW I can get the dress up. But it is a side zip, I am a bit damp from the effort, and I can’t get it zipped. Fortunately Amy and Janet needed a room to change so I had two ladies in waiting. I held the bottom of the zipper, Amy zipped, and Janet held the dress closed above the zipper. And it FIT with .0013″ to spare. As long as I didn’t inhale too deep. Zipped in I added the forms and VIOLA! Glam! Then I hiked up the dress and stepped in to the crinoline. And my silver glitter strappy platform pumps! OMG! I felt BEAUTIFUL!!!!
If you have never worn a ball gown let me tell you it is a BLAST! The dress DEMANDS attention. It has a PRESENCE! It MOVES differently from you. And if you ever have to go we we while wearing one, bundle it up, Work the door with one hand, hold the dress with the other, feel for the seat with another, rebundle the dress back up because it wants to fall in the can, and get a piece of paper, after BACKING in to the stall, and you can’t see anything below your boob and the bundled dress thereabouts. What a challenge! SO MUCH FUN!!!!! Love those glitter pumps!
It isn’t unusual for some people to want to sit with us. They dance with us all the time. This night a couple asked to spend the whole time with us at our table. They had a long and diverse conversation with Amy and Janet.
The GGs (real girls) at the club had a GREAT time with us! Even some of the guys!
This is SUCH FUN!
