NEW WEEKNIGHT OUTINGS and I am Still Having Fun!

The Grand Illusions Group has been having two events a month for about three years now. The first monthly gathering is in a private setting as in away from the general public. Exclusively CDers. Dress is anything you want as long as it is tasteful, ie we don’t want to see your bits. Fun, support, presentation help, swap stuff, acceptance, with friends. Oh and GAB, lots of gab.DSCN9187 (2)

For a couple of years there have been requests for an event during the week to make it possible for the gals who work weekends to have some fun too. I was finally able to arrange this with some help from a new member, Jackie. So every week that the long running Friday events are not on, we do the Thursday OUTing. Like the Friday events, it starts out modestly and just grows from there.

DSCN9167 (2)DSCN9178 (2)I usually start the Grand Illusions days at early around 1:00pm.

Sometimes by myself, sometimes others want to start out early too. This day I wore a HUGE full circle skirt. It is two layers of a cotton fabric with embellishments on the outside. I have to pick it up to climb stairs or I will step on it. I have to bundle it up to sit on a chair or it will be on the floor on both sides. Getting in to the car I first have to bundle the skirt up in front of my legs, then hold it there and climb in my truck, then gather the skirt up because it has fallen out the side. When walking in to the wind it goes between my legs billowing behind me and making walking difficult. But so much fun. Like a casual ball gown. I love how I can spread it out and cover the whole couch.

DSCN9172 (2)I changed in to a silk skirt suit for dinner. OUT enfemme in the usual way. I love the hat! And the mirror picture is cool with the front and back view together. I think I have an idea for a shoe closet. I need to add on to the house!

For My Trans Friends

TRANSGENDER PIONEERS

DSCN8970 (2)I read a book about the attempts to find the North Pole. Those people gave their lives to make a journey that virtually every human being would avoid because of the sacrifices and danger. But they persevered. A dangerous journey that only a tiny percentage of the population will ever even consider. Exploring to dangerous and uncomfortable places is definitely not for everyone. It has no appeal or even no interest to most of us. But we can still respect the devotion, the desire, what has to be genetic need to risk all, for a goal that most of us can not understand.

DSCN8980 (2)I see the few members of our group, The Grand Illusions, who are transitioning, The Grand Illusions, as like the astronauts and the explorers. The M-F travelers are taking a dangerous journey that only a tiny percentage of the population will ever even consider. They are a small percentage even of our Group of CDers. Transitioning is definitely not for everyone. It has no appeal or even no interest to almost all of us. But we can still respect the devotion, the desire, what has to be genetic need to risk all for a goal that most of us can not understand.

DSCN8933 (2)The International Space Station has lost the fancy of most of us. It has become all but mundane. Yet to be there, to transit to and from, each piece of the puzzle is very dangerous. One small piece of matter (debris) where it shouldn’t be, floating around out there, and those astronauts are in peril. It would be very easy to damage the envelope and then lose the environment they need to survive. A dangerous journey that only a tiny percentage of the population will ever even consider. It is definitely not for everyone. It has no appeal or even no interest to most of us. But we can still respect the devotion, the desire, what has to be genetic need to risk all for a goal that most of us can not understand.

DSCN3360 (2)I write a lot about how I am “just a crossdresser”.   When I travel I am just a traveler, not an explorer, even though I am exploring from the comfort of my air conditioned car, plane, bus, walking on my safe and comfortable foot path, in a mundane museum. When I go in to outer space it is in an airplane, pressurized, air conditioned, with a drink cart and cabin staff. And an in flight movie. So too when I appear as a woman, it is much more like the comfortable traveler or mundane museum exploration. I am “just” while those who are transitioning are really the explorers.

DSCN8993 (2)So to my friends that are transitioning, I kind of understand. I can never really fully truly experience your path because it isn’t in my genetic composition. But you have my respect and admiration for your determination to go on a path that most of us will never experience. A dangerous journey that only a tiny percentage of the population will ever even consider. It is definitely not for everyone. It has no appeal or even no interest to most of us. But we can still respect the devotion, the desire, what has to be genetic need to risk all for a goal that most of us can not understand.

Bless you all!

SUCH FUN! (For “just a crossdresser” anyway)

CROSSDRESSING AND BUDGETS

CROSSDRESSING AND BUDGETS

2016/01/04

<- Dress $5.99 from GWs
<- Hat $1.50 from GWs
<- Shoes $15.00 from Shoe Carnival

In the beginning I bought one dress from a CDer supplier. It was a big disappointment, poorly made, minimal tailoring, primarily made to be stretchy and therefore fit everyone. For a while I was buying a few clothes at the big box stores like Macy’s, Younkers, Kohls, JC Penny, and Burlington. I only paid full price a couple of times because something was fabulous and I couldn’t live without it. Or so I thought at the time anyway. I bought some more new stuff when on sale, but still just a small amount. This new stuff was of current fashion trends and really limited fashion diversity. All along I was also shopping the resale shops, mostly GWs. As I accumulated things I ended up with many pieces that would work together. That is what I seek out now, tops, skirts, dresses, jewelry, purses that complete an outfit I have already a part of. Like a skirt for a blazer I already have, a bolero jacket or shrug for a dress I already have. I also seek out the unusual, like a crocheted collar, lace, BIG buttons, a very pretty color, special fabric, detailed tailoring. The stuff I found at GWs is, by far, more diverse, more colorful, more imaginative. But it takes time and persistence to find it. And the odd thing is that I am MUCH happier with what I found at GWs than from the new stores or on line. So I tend to buy mostly from GWs and occasionally off the deeply reduced new store sale racks.

Coat $7.99 from GWs ->

I bought a few shoes at GWs but they were usually there because they hurt the first owner’s feet. But I have found a few pair that were really nice, not the typical offerings in the stores, and comfortable. I bought some on line, some of which were uncomfortable or poorly made. Then I discovered a shoe at Shoe Carnival that had a nice chunky heel, at a comfortable three inch height, with a comfortable toe box. They were about $15.00 per pair. I bought a bunch and recolored them to the rainbow. Now I have heels that I can wear all day in every color I need. White, pink, yellow, red, navy blue, green, fuchsia, black, gray, brown, pastel blue. This is not something everyone will want to do. So to avoid the mistake of buying shoes that you can’t wear, look for comfort first.

It took a couple of years but I have accumulated a wardrobe beyond my fondest dreams.

rsz_dscn7726_2

Shoes came from Ebay (just a few and I don’t recommend them), 6pm (some great buys), and Shoe Carnival (really GREAT buys). BTW I wear 11s. So I ended up buying a LOT of one style of heel because they look good, were about $15/pair, and I have been changing their color so I have a rainbow of colors of comfortable Mary Jane shoes. So I am no longer buying shoes.

<- Dress/Bolero combination $7.99 at GWs

So my purchasing has almost plummeted. I now spend maybe $100/month for the rare big spender month and maybe as little as $20/month on a small month. Probably averaging around $50/month now.

If you don’t have a big budget, you can still accumulate
